Title: Airplane Emergency

Riddle: A commercial airplane carrying 140 passengers is traveling at 225 mph. While traveling at this speed the plane runs out of fuel and all mechanical instruments fail (including the landing gear). Surprisingly, after this situation has ended, all passengers exit the plane completely unharmed. The plane is also completely undamaged. How is this possible?
